Advice Logistics

A project bringing long-standing logistics practice together with research and the development of practical solutions.

Advice Logistics brings together my work on transport, supply chains, operating models, research and digital technology. I study complex logistics systems, develop models and design ways to change how those systems work.

01 Origins

How professional practice became a separate project

My work on logistics problems began in 2006. Over time it has covered transport planning, supply chains, materials management, warehousing and production, organisational methods and the design of digital systems.

Research, practical assignments and accumulated methods gradually formed a distinct professional line. Advice Logistics became a place where that experience develops into models, methods, project solutions and new research questions.

The project remains connected to real systems and organisations. Each new task makes it possible to understand more precisely how logistics processes work, where their constraints arise and which changes improve the system as a whole.

02 Central idea

Logistics as an architecture of movement and coordination

Advice Logistics approaches logistics as a connected system. Material flows, transport, stocks, production operations, information, organisational roles and management decisions are treated as interdependent elements.

A change in one element affects the others. Inventory structure changes warehouse and procurement requirements. Transport organisation influences production, service and working capital. Digital systems become useful through well-defined processes, reliable data and distributed responsibility.

This perspective moves beyond isolated symptoms. It helps identify causes of losses, recognise constraints, specify a target state and connect organisational changes with digital management.

Logistics becomes manageable when flows, processes, data and responsibility are brought into one model.

03 Practice and research

Projects as a way of developing knowledge

The practical work of Advice Logistics solves applied problems while also developing the project's methods.

Every organisation has its own structure of flows, processes, constraints, data and interests. Working with a particular system tests models, refines methods and reveals patterns that can inform later studies and projects.

Research provides concepts, analytical language and methods. Practice shows how they operate in actual organisations. Project findings then return to the research process and help develop the next generation of methods and tools.

A

Research

Develops models, concepts and analytical methods.

B

Design

Translates research constructs into target systems and solutions.

C

Practice

Tests methods against actual processes, data and constraints.

04 Tools

Putting project methods to work

Advice Logistics develops browser-based services for preparing logistics, process and digital transformation projects.

These tools help frame the initial problem, describe processes and data, assess automation readiness, and turn analysis into requirements, a project brief and the structure of a technical specification.

The services are collected on a separate Advice Logistics site and are being developed as a connected working environment.

05 Within IWXA

Where research, business and technology meet

Within IWXA, Advice Logistics connects three fields: researching complex systems, solving real organisational problems and applying digital technologies.

Research produces models and questions. Project work tests them against real logistics systems. Technology extends the possibilities for analysis, modelling, automation and preparation of decisions.

One professional field thus becomes a setting for research, project work and the development of practical tools at the same time.

06 Next stage

Developing a research and project platform

The next stage of Advice Logistics aims to bring practical projects, research materials, original methods and digital tools together in a coherent professional platform.

The intended workflow covers an entire complex logistics problem: examining the system, building a model, preparing a solution, defining requirements and preserving new knowledge.

The separate Advice Logistics website presents the project's practical work, completed projects, methods and tools.
