Active-living services
Browser-based calculations, scales, tests and checklists for physical condition, recovery, mobility, environmental safety and care arrangements.
A practical digital layer linked to the Life OS architecture.
A project connecting gerontology, recovery, medical textiles and practical care.
Bazmed focuses on preserving and restoring human function: strength, mobility, independence and the ability to direct one's own life. Manufacturing provides a practical foundation; Life OS extends the work by connecting products, their use, actions, observations and data.
The initial question was how to extend active and independent living. I wanted to understand how people retain strength, mobility and control over their own lives, and how support changes during recovery, age-related limitations and intensive care.
In 2016 Bazmed took the form of a manufacturing business. Work with medical textiles, care products, rehabilitation and conditions of use gave the project a practical foundation. Active longevity stopped being an abstract theme and became work with specific conditions, materials, designs and environments.
Production revealed how a product, the surrounding space, family actions, care routines and an individual's condition affect one another. These connections became the basis for Bazmed's next stage.
Production has made it possible to gather verifiable practical knowledge about materials, designs, conditions of use and actual constraints in care. This experience now informs the development of Bazmed and Life OS.
Design and production of medical textiles and products for care, rehabilitation, support, positioning and transfer.
Working with institutions, families and situations where outcomes depend on the product, the environment and the sequence of actions.
Connecting materials, construction, purpose, product care and the person's condition.
Production remains Bazmed's operating business foundation and provides practical experience for the development of Life OS.
Life OS extends Bazmed from a collection of individual products towards an integrated architecture of active living. It starts with the person's present condition: their function, goals, limitations, environment and required level of support.
The proposed system brings together condition, goals, products, environment, protocols, data, checkpoints and the adjustment of actions.
Age alone provides only a limited description. People of the same age may be building physical capacity, recovering from an injury, adapting their surroundings, caring for others or receiving intensive care.
Bazmed is organised around human function: the ability to move, act, make decisions, retain independence and recover the capabilities that remain possible.
Active living continues wherever a person retains the ability to act independently or regains a function that is still possible.
Two public digital services are developing alongside the business. They are associated with the Bazmed name but address distinct user needs and are presented in the IWXA Tools section.
Browser-based calculations, scales, tests and checklists for physical condition, recovery, mobility, environmental safety and care arrangements.
A practical digital layer linked to the Life OS architecture.
A regional directory of nursing homes, residential care homes and care institutions, with organisation profiles and essential information for an initial choice.
An independent service under the Bazmed name.
Within IWXA, Bazmed connects three areas: a practical business, research into active living, and the development of digital tools.
Production, products, markets, supply chains and the development of a sustainable product system.
Active living, functional longevity, recovery, independence and care arrangements.
Digital services, condition models, protocols, individual pathways and work with data.
Bazmed is developing on several levels at once. Manufacturing continues to operate while the digital and methodological layers of Life OS are progressively taking shape.
Own production of medical textiles and products for care and rehabilitation.
Connecting products, human conditions, environments and practical situations of use.
Forming a shared architecture of conditions, goals, products, protocols and data.
Operating browser-based tools and a separate directory of care institutions.
