This page belongs to an earlier version of Life+. The updated model is described in the eight Life Engine modes.

Life OS in My Own Life

Life OS is my way of connecting the body, energy, work, recovery, care for loved ones and a return to activity after setbacks within one practical model. The Life Engine approach is also being developed in Bazmed; here I describe how I use it in my own life.

OS.01A shared framework instead of scattered advice
The body, energy, recovery, work, rehabilitation after injury, care for loved ones and finances often belong to separate worlds. Life OS brings them together through shared concepts and a consistent way of thinking.
OS.02A working tool, not merely a metaphor
The framework underpinning Bazmed also informs my own practice. The eight modes are a practical way to allocate attention, effort and recovery, rather than a promotional slogan.
OS.03The prevailing mode shapes the rules of a period
At a given time, life tends to have one leading mode. My approach to food, movement, sleep, communication and decisions responds to that mode, rather than trying to force every period into the same routine.
OS.04Moving between modes is part of the system
A change of mode is an expected transition, not a failure. Recover should not erase what was built in Build, and Perform should not undermine Care. Managing these transitions matters as much as understanding each mode.
OS.05Feedback is built in
Each mode has its own indicators: energy, physical measures, mental clarity, quality of relationships and financial resilience. Without feedback, a useful framework can turn into wishful thinking.

Life Engine emerged as the core of Bazmed, a project concerned with active and independent living. My personal practice and the project evolved alongside each other. Some decisions grew out of lived experience, while work on Bazmed fed new ideas back into my own life. The product is described on the Bazmed project page.
