Optimize

Optimize is a period of targeted improvements built on an already stable foundation. I change one or several parameters and examine both the intended result and its cost to sleep, mental well-being, relationships, curiosity and recovery.

·Improving one parameter must not damage another: health, mental well-being, relationships, curiosity or resilience.
·Nothing is beneficial in every circumstance. Dose, present condition and the task of the moment determine what is actually useful.
·Optimisation is a sequence of controlled experiments with feedback, not a single supposedly correct decision.
·Limit simultaneous changes. Focus on one or two parameters in the current period, rather than improving everything at once.
·Give each change a baseline, hypothesis, time frame and point at which its effects will be assessed.
·Check the intended result alongside related factors: have sleep, mental well-being, relationships or interest in life deteriorated?
·Improvement in the target parameter without deterioration in related ones.
·The ability to reverse an unsuccessful change without losing the Build foundation.
·A growing understanding of what works for me personally, rather than what looks convincing in popular charts.
·Do not begin Optimize on a damaged Build foundation; restore the basics first.
·Optimisation must not become endless fine-tuning. Each experiment needs a stopping point.
